Itinerary

  • Saturday, 18 July: Arrival in Launceston

    • Arrive in Launceston in time for pre-trip briefing at 2:00pm

    • Check-in at Grand Chancellor Hotel

    • Welcome dinner and group introduction

    • Host-led discussion on the upcoming trek, packing tips

    Meals: D

  • Sunday, 19 July: Launceston → Cradle Mountain, Waldheim to Waterfall Valley

    • Depart Launceston at 7:45am (Grand Chancellor)

    • 2.5 hour transfer to Waldheim, “forest home” of the Overland Track

    • Trek past lakes and tarns to Cradle Plateau; enjoy views of Dove Lake

    • Camp at Waterfall Valley

    • Daily stretching and injury prevention routine led by Rob

    Walking Distance: 10 km | Time: 5 hours

  • Monday, 20 July: Waterfall Valley → Lake Windermere

    • Trek south to Lake Windermere

    • Optional side trip past Joseph Will’s diggings and Innes Falls

    • Afternoon relaxation at Windermere Hut

    • Evening discussions with our group

    Walking Distance: 8 km + side trips | Time: 3 hours + side trips

  • Tuesday, 21 July: Lake Windermere → Pelion Plains

    • Trek through Pine Forest Moor with views of Forth River Valley and Mt Oakleigh

    • Lunch at Frog Flats, then up to Pelion Plains

    • Optional side trip to Old Pelion Hut to explore park history

    • Evening stretching and recovery session

    Walking Distance: 17 km | Time: 7 hours

  • Wednesday, 22 July: Pelion Plains → Kia Ora

    • Trek through Myrtle forest and Pandani trees to the saddle between Mt Pelion East and Mt Ossa

    • Optional climb of Mt Ossa in fine weather

    • Camp in Pinestone Valley at Kia Ora

    • Daily stretch & recovery led by Rob

    Walking Distance: 9 km + side trips | Time: 5 hours + side trips

  • Thursday, 23 July: Kia Ora → Bert Nichols Hut

    • Walk through rainforests to Fergusson, Dalton, and Hartnett Falls

    • Descend to Bert Nichols Hut

    • Evening reflection with the group, stretching, and injury prevention session

    Walking Distance: 10 km + side trips | Time: 4 hours + side trips
    Meals: B, L, D

  • Friday, 24 July: Bert Nichols Hut → Lake St Clair → Launceston

    • Trek through mixed eucalyptus and rainforest to Lake St Clair

    • 30 minute ferry across the lake

    • Bus transfer back to Launceston (5pm arrival)

    • Farewell dinner at hotel, celebrate the week’s achievements

  • Saturday 25th July: Farewell and Departure

    After an early morning wake up, enjoy a final breakfast at the hotel in Launceston, giving everyone a chance to reflect on the trek and share memories from the week.

    Take this time to say your goodbyes to your fellow trekkers and your Rob, before checking out of the hotel. Transfers to the airport or onward travel are at your own arrangements.

    This morning provides a gentle, relaxed end to your Overland Track adventure, marking the conclusion of a memorable and rewarding journey across Tasmania.
